Instructions
BEARING ASSEMBLIES (Belt Drive)
Plastic combination oil gauge and filler pipe assembly
Use only
turbine No. 15 oil or equal. |
Fill
reservoir to bottom line on oil gauge before starting pump. When pump is running the oil
level will not show in gauge. |
For stand-by
or off season, fill reservoir to top line on oil gauge to immerse bearings. Be sure and
drain oil to bottom line before starting pump. If reservoir is over filled and then
operated, the oil will pump up over the top of the bearing housing and be thrown outwardly
as a fine oil spray from underneath the pulley. NOTE: The same thing will occur if the
wrong type of oil is used. |
Change oil
after every long stand-by period and after every 1,000 hours of operation. |
Be sure that
oil gauge is installed with red lines nearest to the top end. |
VERTICAL HOLLOW SHAFT
ELECTRIC MOTORS OR RIGHT ANGLE PUMP DRIVES
Refer to the
lubrication plate for the correct lubrication instructions, weight of oil to be used, ect.
These lubrication instructions apply only to that drive. For irrigation season usage in
the midwest US the lubrication oil usually will be in the ISO 150 to 220 range. |
Lubricate
spicer shaft every 200 hours of operation with Texaco P.A.S.R.-629 or equal. Check for
loose bearings. |
CAUTION:
Always keep spicer shaft cover in place at all times pump is operating to protect
personnel. |
OIL LUBRICATED PUMPS
The oil for
lubrication of the line shaft of the pump (Dripper Oil) is No. 10W, or equal. |
Oil is stored
in the tank oiler mounted on the pump. |
The oil
regulator on the bottom of the tank oiler should be set to approximately eight to ten
drops per minute. |
WATER LUBRICATED PUMPS
CAUTION:
Before starting the water lubricated pump at any time, be sure to open the valve on the
pre lubrication tank and allow enough time for the water to reach all of the rubber
bearings above the water level. Failure to do so, will cause damage to the shaft sleeves
and the rubber bearings. |
Before
stopping the pump, be sure to re-fill the pre lubrication tank by opening the valve at the
discharge elbow. This will force water into the tank. Close the valve after the tank has
been filled and the water will be available for the pre lubrication of the sleeves and
bearings before the pump is started again. |
Adjust shaft
packing gland if necessary to allow a slight leakage. This is necessary to cool shaft and
packing. |
Grease
packing gland daily and add packing when necessary to control leakage. |
GENERAL
CAUTION:
Never operate pump or drives when any safety shields, guards or covers are removed, open,
missing or damaged. |
Always keep
well vent screens, draw down inspection hole plugs or covers, or any other plugs in the
pump base in place to prevent snakes, rodents, or any contamination from entering your
well. Under most jurisdictions you are required to maintain a well seal that will prevent
any contamination from entering your well. Aside from that a snake in your well usually
requires the pump to be removed to clear the obstruction from the bowl assembly. |
